Career Structure Implementation Project

The 2007 South Australian Public Sector Nursing and Midwifery career structure has evolved from ideas and information given by the many nurses and midwives who participated in the review process during 2006-2007. The review proposals became part of the Enterprise Bargaining negotiations between the State Government and the Australian Nursing Federation (SA Branch) and a new career structure has emerged as a result of these processes.

The Career Structure provides professional recognition and financial remuneration for nurses and midwives through classifications acknowledging clinical achievement and professional contribution. This web site will provide you with up-to-date information on the progress of the implementation of the new South Australian Nurses and Midwives Career Structure.

To facilitate the personal reclassification process for the new Level 2 Clinical Nurse/Midwife role the Personal Reclassification Guidelines, below, have been developed in consultation with and endorsed by the Career Structure Implementation Central Guidance Group. The information contained in the guidelines is designed to assist RN/Ms Level 1 in the preparation of a personal reclassification application and the collation of supporting evidence for the position criteria. The guidelines are not a reclassification application package, as local application forms and processes are to be utilised for this purpose. However the Criteria Statement Questions (pages 15 & 16) can be utilised in the application process.

There are two versions of the guidelines, the PDF copy of the guidelines is the print version and the word template is the online version. While both contain the same information the online version allows applicant to complete the Criteria Statement Questions form.
